Was interest in knowing who has their battery box behind the baggage area in their DA-20s. I've been having issues with the battery vent system. It is not clogged and is operating correctly but there is one plastic t-connector in the system as designed that will rot out in no time - and when that happens I have corrosive battery acid getting inside the aircraft in places it should not be. After two Diamond-supplied t-connectors suffered the same fate - I replaced it with a overly heavy but robust brass connector. While better, I'm still unhappy with the situation.
The battery is a Gill G-35 which is not sealed. I do know Gill has a sealed battery that would be superior, but it is currently not approved in the DA-20 - though I believe it is approved for the DA-40. Anyway, I discussed my plight with a Gill Representative at the AOPA Fly-in in Tampa last weekend and I am hopeful that they will do the legwork to bring this sealed battery option to DA-20 owners.
Appreciate knowing if someone has had this problem and their solution.
