High Fuel pressure red warning light
Last Friday while climbing out at 1,000 ft I got a red light warning of high fuel pressure. With my wife in the plane, I immediately got clearance from the tower and returned to the field. My fuel pump was on the whole time and I honestly didn't check any engine gauges. I had a really nervous wife and just landed.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: High Fuel pressure red warning light
I had a similar thing happen a couple of weeks ago. I had the high fuel pressure alarm go off when I turned the fuel pump on to start the engine. I turned off the master and rebooted the G1000 and everything was fine. I had just flown for 45min with a 10min stop so I was thinking something to do with a hot start and vapour in the line (or a G1000 quirk). Was your situation similar?T Frank wrote:Last Friday while climbing out at 1,000 ft I got a red light warning of high fuel pressure. Re: High Fuel pressure red warning light
Regarding my high fuel pressure light, Diamond told my FBO mechanic that the oil pressure sensor and the fuel pressure sensor are identical so if we swapped them and the oil pressure sensor kicked on the warning light, we'd know it was a sensor. I tried it and nothing happened so now we think it was just voodoo. Since then, no problems.

Hasn't happened again with me either so I am guessing it is a G1000 quirk.

Re: High Fuel pressure red warning light
Happened to me as follows:
Was at holding point for a long flight in hot weathet. Ttower told me clearance would take a few minutes . I shut down the engine and got a high fuel pressure alert and the gauge was maxed out.
I set mixture to full rich and pressure dropped to zero. After 30 sec, same story again. Same fix.
I suspect some fuel vaporization.
After this I followed the flooded engine startup checklist. Worked fine!

Re: High Fuel pressure red warning light
I got a high fuel pressure warning on climbout yesterday, at about 2500', WOT, 2550rpm. It extinguished when I turned on the boost pump, came back on when I turned it off, went out when I turned it on then went out when I throttled back at cruise altitude (4500') and never came back. There were no indications of engine problems otherwise, and reviewing the data on the SD card confirmed no other abnormalities--fuel flow, etc. I spoke with my mechanic who suspects the sensor, and has sent the spreadsheet data to Diamond. I plan to fly tomorrow if it clears up so see if the problem recurs; I'm inclined to replace the FP sensor if there's any question, but it may be a "gremlin" like what other posters reported. Alarms make everyone nervous, however, and we fly a lot of Angel Flights, so it may turn out to be a peace-of-mind issue as much as anything.

Re: High Fuel pressure red warning light
Diagnosing these odd issues can require some voodoo, however, with the proper data logging software config in your airplane you can and should log every flight. Simple as a blank SD card in the top PFD slot. If you experience something odd you can download the data to the reports section on this flight and find out exactly what happened and when. If there was indeed a fuel pressure spike you might be able to get some clues as to what was going on by looking at the data. I never fly a G1000 airplane without logging the data. Takes away all the "I think this ir that happened". Just a thought.

Re: High Fuel pressure red warning light
Jeff,
I have put an SD card in both my PFD and MFD top slot but do not get any data logging. Do you know if this feature is unavailable for the DA42 (just like WAAS is unavailable for the KAP140 DA42)?
Thanks,
Cary
