Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40
An apology from diverging a bit from this thread but my landing light just went out. It's the incandescent version and I can't find a P/N in the Diamond website IPC. Does anyone know that P/N and where I can get an inexpensive replacement? I'm not able to fork out a bunch to go to HID or LED.

Hello,
Does some of you have the part number of the plates (kit) from diamond that is needed to install the led ?
Is there something additionnal to buy?
What ref of led have you installed?
Thanks !
Arnaud.

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40
Hello,
I'm collecting all parts from the work instruction in order to start this modification on my DA40, but I cannot find the 8 screws (4 on each LED) that will hold the LED units into the brackets.
The work instruction says that the screws are reference: "NAS 1801-04-3", but I cannot find this reference on the web.
On the drawing from Whelen I found this information "4-40 mounting holes" but nothing regarding the screws (maybe because they are not coming with the LED units).
Can some of you that experienced this modification help me in finding the appropriate screws? Diameter, thread, raw material, lengh...
By chance if some of you can give me also the dimension in metrics it will help because I'm in France.
Thank you.
Arnaud.

Arnaud:
Here is a reference for that series of fasteners:
https://www.gen-aircraft-hardware.com/i ... 1801_2.pdf
The called for item is a #4-40 screw, 3/16 inches long. You are going to have to bite the bullet and buy it from a US distributor. There is no metric equivalent for this size fastener. Probably any #4-40 screw of the proper length or a little longer would work - these are not structural. Looks like this supplier has the NAS1801-04-4 for $1.65 each (that item would be 1/16 inch longer, but you could probably use them as is, or grind off 1/16 inch if you had to...).

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40
Hi Steve,
Thank you very much for that!
I wanted anyway to order everything in the USA (LED units too, because less expensive) and use the travel of a friend to bring them back to me .
My idea to make it easy, is to buy at Spruce. But I cannot find these screw on Spruce
Thank you again.

Something like this:
MS35206-212
available from Aircraft Spruce:
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... ey=5424461
would work just fine. And they cost only $0.04 each!

Re,
I thought that hex bolt head has to be installed to avoid using a screwdriver not easy to insert in this area.
Arnaud.

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40
That is possible. I don't have the Work Instruction. As an aside, I installed the HID lamps in my aircraft (before LEDs were available) and have been very satisfied with them.

Same here. They did add, IIRC, about 1 lb.

Re: LED Landing / Taxi lights for the DA40
Wondering if anything new in Taxi/Landing lights has come out in the last couple years, and if anyone has used the Aeroled lights with success and if anyone has done the work for a 337 with success on them. Would like to get these as they are plug and play in the factory Diamond light assembly hardware. I believe these are the correct ones.
