Advice? Da40 g1000 egt and cht inop
Anyone else experience this? At start up egt and cht readouts on the mfd are X'ed out and they never come on. Big red X's where data should be. 2 flights later and the problem persists. Worked fine day before. Only change is I updated the Garmin Nav data.
I'm new to this site and have spent over two hours searching and reading about egt's and Cht's with no joy. If there is already discussion on this topic, please direct me to it. Thanks

Doubt this is your problem but I forgot to erase my old version one time while updating and had accidentally loaded two mismatched versions which caused a crosstalk error. Re loaded the software and all was well.
Easy thing to do is do a fat32 format, re load the data and see if it goes away. If not then your data update was just a coincidence.

Attempted re-rack GEA71, no joy. Tried updating the jeppesen nav data but system would not recognize SD card as having new data so G1000 ignored it. Ended up replacing the configuration module $480 usd and the thermocouple $58 plus $380 labor. It resolved the issue. I was a little surprised at the price of the config module though. Very pleased to have the gauges back online!

Make sure the fuel tank calibration wasn't affected by replacing the config module. The details are fuzzy, but I remember the two being connected, IIRC.
In my case (standard tanks) it read 15gal at full (supposed to be 17)

Dumb question here...is the configuration module software or hardware?

Tim, the configuration module is hardware. Looks like a micro processing chip about 1/2 square inch that is a component of the GEA located behind the MFD.
