We own a 2007 DA40XL with 50-gal. tanks and I agree with the author of the blog that 40-gal. tanks would be better. You get a better payload because of the larger CG envelope without the 17 lb. nose ballast. 40 gallons gives you an easy 3-hr. endurance with a 1-hr. reserve.
