I have the same issue, I love the DA40 but the lack of ice protection seriously limits my mission during the winter in New England. Im going to be looking very closely at the SR22 G5 as they start to come down the depreciation curve over the next few years. Or a DA42-VI when Dave or Eric get ready to sell
I would love to add the Pantera to that list.

That's not a good sign. Delayed because an engine they were counting on is not certified in time.

But still impressive to see that they can fit a 6- instead of a 4-cylinder engine so quickly.Colin wrote: That's not a good sign. Delayed because an engine they were counting on is not certified in time.

Well, it will be impressive when they have done it, but it certainly changes a whole bunch of their numbers including price.

I doubt they will hit their performance targets with the 6 cylinder. More weight, more internal friction losses... will be interesting to see how the CG works out after the change.

I noticed the report said it wasent certified for auto gas in time. Is this engine certified for av gas And they just don't want it because it can't run on auto?

There are getting to be more aviation diesel options out there. Does anyone know why they don't they consider using one?

Re: Has anyone already placed an order for a Panthera?
The thrust to weight ratio is too high on the deisels for the speedy little design Pantherea requires.

Re: Has anyone already placed an order for a Panthera?
The liquid cooling, turbo charging, coupled with a cast iron block (majority) all add to the weight that a normally aspirated gasoline powered engine does not need.
