I believe the Pipistrel USA distributorship is separate from the Panthera distributorship. The main Pipistrel website (not the US version) shows no US distributors, but does show a US Panthera distributor.

That’s consistent with what the Panthera sales person described at OSH when I talked to him. I don’t think what’s going on with the rest of the Pipistrel stuff will affect the Panthera necessarily. Having said that, it doesn’t bode well for the company in general terms so it is something worth watching especially if you have made (or are considering making) a Panthera deposit…

Sigh, ANN is not being particularly consistent here either, writing "OK; for the record, Pipistrel-USA has been a sponsor of ANN up to this point. To avoid the hint of bias, we have discontinued that relationship for the foreseeable future." and at the same time sporting a nice Pipistrel-USA banner in their header.

This is too bad; Pipistrels are among the few certified planes of contemporary design being sold in the US, so it's not good for anyone to have them run into conflict.

I am not looking now; but this likely would kill off Pipistrel from my search in a few years (after last one finishes college).
Such a pity, since I really like the direction of the company from a technology perspective.

It's my understanding after talking to Andy Chan, Right Rudder Aviation, and emailing the factory. The long relationship they had with Pipistrel USA, Michael Coates, has been terminated. Right Rudder Aviation has the exclusive rights for marketing the Panthera. All commissions and credit will be given to Michael Coates for sales prior to the termination, but after the termination, Right Rudder will be the dealer. I received an email from Michael Coates regarding his side of the story. In the end, the factory, the President of the company, and Andy Chan have informed me as to the plan and moving forward. Maybe I'm naive, but I'm not expecting any lapse in support.

There are 3 flying in the USA now, another one coming in a week or so. Mine will be here in October. I'm looking forward to going through the transition training and taking delivery of the Panthera. I can come back after that and give you my review? Also, I sold my DA-40 to Lifestyle Aviation. They gave me an unsolicited offer and I took it. When I told them of my intentions, they asked that I fly into their home base to check out the Panthera. One huge disclaimer. When I went for insurance, I was rejected for "full coverage". Because I'm a low time pilot and the nature of the airplane, all underwriters but one, would not write coverage. The only one, offered coverage for $52,000 per year with a $25,000 deductible. I opted to fly the plane with liability coverage only, $10,000 per year. I'm going to look at other coverage after a year of ownership.

Please report back once you get the plane, Curt. Think it's safe to say many of us are curious to see how it actually does in the wild.

Congratulations on your new plane! I’m sure you will love it. The build quality looks exceptional. Please remember the old adage. There are two type of retractable gear pilots — those who have landed gear up and those that will. However, with modern systems of warnings that may be a thing of the past.

I highly recommend you take an unusual attitude course, sometimes called an Emergency Maneuver course. I thought it was exceptionally valuable particularly with a much higher performance plane.

How many hours of flight do you have if you don’t mind me asking?
