Re: Wing Walk upgrade
Good point. Knowing Cirrus it will be. Even using portable O2 requires a specific installed O2 bottle secured in the back seat with an STC.
I will ask on COPA and see.

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
I'm not sure how wing walk would help the airplane fly? I can see spreading wing walk into other areas of the wing would be a no no. But as long as the new wing walk is in the exact area of the old, then it makes sense to me that it won't affect flight characteristics. I'm sure it's a financial thing to sell wing walk. Oh well, I will address it if it ever comes up with the FAA.

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
From what I can gather, it's not an airworthiness item for Cirrus. Some have painted the area with a textured factory paint, or aftermarket wing walks from other vendors.
I just got the tape in today. Not sure how the adhesive will hold up over time. I'll put a small piece on the plane and see how it holds up before I put it on completely. I've got a full day of flying coming up this Saturday. 6-7 hours at 170 plus knots should test it a little.
The stuff is plenty grippy looking.

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
Hey Jeff,
I let mine cure for a couple of days before I flew. I don't think you will have any problem with it sticking. Mine hasn't moved. And yes, it's grippy. You won't slip, not even a little.

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
I love the look of this stuff. Hope it sticks well. I'm actually not looking forward to removing the old stuff but but it will be worth it. The clean look of this stuff will look so much better. I plan on putting on the edge glue from the start for the leading edge.
Were leaving Saturday morning so I'll put on a test piece tomorrow.
I'll post a pic when done

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
Doug, how did you get those strips positioned so evenly? Did yo use a template or pencil marks or something, or just a really good eye?

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
Hey Steve,
I cut them to fit first. I laid them out where I wanted them. Then, my friend and I both took off the adhesive and placed them evenly in place. No pencil, no guide, just good guess work. Honestly, I wasn't that concerned if it was off a little. It's a nice change and the strips really work well. Send pics when you are done.

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
Looks like another 2 kts on the right wing. Seriously, it looks great. I'm going for it.
Which glue did you use?

Re: Wing Walk upgrade
It was self sticking. Just peel and stick. And if you get nervous, you can use a lead pencil and make a small mark at the top and one at the bottom. It's a nice upgrade, looks good and very functional.
