Re: Air scoop
The airscoop I have is an aftermarket solution I invented myself. It retracts automatically during take off. It is an awesome invention, but no STC out for it yet. It is called "left hand".

Re: Air scoop
There's also a similar mod for the co-pilot called "right hand." I've used that a few times flying in airplanes my friends were piloting.

I thought that was called "Diamond Air Conditioning".

Re: Air scoop
Nah, that's when you latch the canopy one notch above fully closed.Joey wrote:I thought that was called "Diamond Air Conditioning".

Re: Air scoop
Be careful using the "left hand" or "right hand" scoop. I had a passenger in the right seat who tried using the "right hand" without reading the POH and it was almost ripped off (his fingers / wrist were certainly sore / bent backward) from not really properly anticipating what 130kt wind does.

Re: Air scoop
If it were not for the right hand AC capability of my DA40 my wife would never fly with me in the summer months. The summer heat under this canopy can be unbearable at times.
