I'm wondering if anyone has encountered what I have going on with my MFD. On my last flight I turned on the G1000 and the PFD was normal, but the MFD was pretty dark/dim on the top 1/3 of the screen. The bottom 2/3rds was not nearly as dim, but not the normal brightness. I checked my screen settings. Both screens are 100% and on Auto. I took the MFD off of auto and set it for manual. I dimmed it all the way down and back up. No change. I got to my destination and some hours later left and it was the same situation on the way back.
Any ideas?
Also, if it happens that I need the MFD panel itself replaced/repaired, does anyone know how much a replacement costs?

https://fly.garmin.com/fly-garmin/suppo ... f-warranty
GDU1040: flat rate $1400.
The other MFD versions (with garmin autopilot) are 1500 / 1600, depending. I don't recall the model number there.

Hi Jeff,
It was a temp issue. My hangar was 55 degrees or so and when I got to my destination it was 70 degrees or so and I left the plane for a few hours and when I got back it was warm inside and it remained the same.

Hi DavidS,
Thanks for the price on the GDU, that helps alot. The plane is in the shop and hopefully I will hear back from my mechanic and Garmin tomorrow.

Hi Tim,
It was the GDU that went on the fritz. My Diamond Service Center got the new screen last week and it should be installed this week.
