+1 to what Sandy said.

I had the ESS Tie breaker pop in-flight during a return IFR XC with my CFI. We attempted to reset 1 time, popped again, and proceeded with the 45 min flight on Essential Bus.

My mechanic and another owner said the same thing: the battery was too low and the alternator was sending it too much current.

I had ground run the G1000 for 10+ minutes while inputting my flightplan. Bad idea. Live and learn!

Actually, when you ground run you should look at the current flow and voltage, and make sure that your RPM is high enough to avoid discharging the battery while you are inputting your flight plan or awaiting a clearance.
