Centurion 2.0S Engine
My Thielert 1.7 engine reaches its 12 year end of life next March, so I'm considering my options. Does anybody have experience of installing the Centurion 2.0S engine in a DA40? If so, how much did it cost, and how much better does it perform?
Thanks,
Keith
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Centurion 2.0S Engine
Hi Keith I flight a DA 40 with 1,7 centurion , the engine reach 1000 hours and need to be replaced , so now there is no choice and must be 2.0 centurion , the choice is 2.0 with 135 hp or 2.0s with 155 hp ( same engine but different software ). The difference is huge approx 12 knot in cruise and we decided also to replace the old type propeller with the new one from MP PROPELER germany wich give you take off 100 m ( 300 ft ) shorter than the old propeler and better rate of climb. I am based in france and the cost for us including engine STIC modification G1000 update manpower and French tax ( 20 % ) Is 72 000 € I will get our airplane with the new engine around mid June . If you need more information don't hesitate best regards

Re: Centurion 2.0S Engine
Hi Pierre, thanks for the information. When you get the aircraft back, it will be interesting to hear if those estimated performance figures are borne out in practice.
How long does the engine replacement take and where is the work being done?

Re: Centurion 2.0S Engine
There is an interesting report on à German magazine regarding the performance with this 2.0s engine but of course soon we get back our airplane we will confirm these performance. The job take around 4 weeks the lead time for the engine from technify in germany is around 4 weeks , MTPROPELER is 6 weeks , we placed the order 1 month ago . The job will be done in AEROCARPIQUET in Caen not so far from Deauville and Cherbourg.

Re: Centurion 2.0S Engine
Found this. It is in french but easily translated.

Form what they say it does "125 knots in cruise".
Hopefully it is 125 KIAS - would be quite good.

Re: Centurion 2.0S Engine
Hi
right with the original propeler but for this conversion it's recommended the new MT PROPELER blade ( 190-69 same governor but new blades ) which give more performance , later I will post more informations

Re: Centurion 2.0S Engine
Hi Pierre, given the lead time I've been quoted for ordering a new engine, it's approaching make my mind up time. Has the installation been completed in your aircraft and are you pleased with it?
Thanks, Keith
