Located on the ceiling in front of the eyeball lights. Seems like a collar is missing as the screw threads are showing.

Camera mount of some kind? I have a gopro mount in my plane in that exact location. :)

No I doubt it's a mount. See this close up of the inside area: It has what looks like "fins". I thought it might be for air but don't feel any coming out.

The fins are to provide a positive rotational position for the camera mount

It's going to be pretty hard to match the internal components of the mount unless someone happens to recognize it. I just did a google reverse images search and had no luck.

Would be easier just to pry that off and get a new mount!

Steve,

Sorry, can't really say. Trouble is that there are dozens of companies making add-ons for GoPros; generally with their own design, so with a two-part clip-on quick release design, there is one part to fix to the aircraft (or whatever) and the other part has the GoPro fixing.
The GoPro fixing is of course standard to fit the camera but the way that the quick release works between the fixed part and the other part is proprietary in most cases - so you need to find the part that mates with the fixed part on the aircraft, which may not be easy.. lots of internet trawling .. unless you can find out the make/model of the fixing from the previous owner.

It may be quicker / easier to buy a whole new fixing; I imagine that the black fixed part in the picture should only be stuck with a foam pad or hopefully with gentle glue so pulling off the current one may not cause too much damage.

Sorry I can't help more.

And just seen the post from L Tek1 - have to agree, likely less time & effort to pry off the current one

Ok all thank you! Prying it off is the decision! I will replace it with a standard Gopro mount
