The deal with the magnetos isn't even a Diamond-specific issue. It's a Slick recommendation no matter what plane they're in.

Door hinges and rear door locking mechanism are critical.

Honestly most of these things are pretty standard. It's annoying to have to do it however now you are starting with a known quantity. You don't have to guess when the battery is going to fail you or the mags will fail you. The exhaust crack is most likely a result of the previous owners not following the Power Flow instructions for continued airworthiness. Every year at the annual inspection you need to disassemble the exhaust and apply anti-seize. Don't neglect this or you will be fixing it again.

When I buy a used car or airplane I almost always replace all the consumables so I start with something nearly new.
