Jack point disappeared
The jack point under the right wing has departed for greener pastures (perhaps literally ) . Anyone know where to get a replacement? Presumably Diamond for one, but that could take awhile.

Re: Jack point disappeared
You are talking about the small conical piece bonded onto the lower wing skin? I don't think that is a "standard" part, so you will likely have to purchase from Diamond. I presume you can glue a new one on with epoxy.

Re: Jack point disappeared
Many planes have something like this built in, but it does seem unlikely that a non-composite A/C would use this kind of part in implementing it.

In case any of you had a burning desire to see what the jack point nubby bonded to, herewith is what it looks like (ignore that white patch, it's a reflection of my iPhone screen:

Rich:
Out of curiosity, I just looked at the IPCs (on line and my hard copy one - they each have somewhat different coverage). That part is not shown. It may be included in the fabrication of the lower fuselage skin, and therefore not listed separately. I'm sure the factory could send you one, though.

I agree. I'm not clear on why it came off, though it is pretty highly stressed when jacking the plane. Unfortunately it didn't come off in the hangar upon lowering the jacks, which is what I would have expected.Steve wrote:Rich:

Re: Jack point disappeared
It's not all that obvious in the picture, but the jack adapter is not bonded to the lower skin (except peripherally, I suppose). There's a hole bored through the skin into which the adapter fits and then is bonded to a structural piece with a matching conical projection. The skin is bonded to this same piece, of course, but the lifting stress bypasses the skin.
As Steve has said, the IPC doesn't show these parts or even acknowledge their existence in the drawings. I will hopefully know more tomorrow.

Re: Jack point disappeared
Just ordered 2 (if one can fall off after 16 years...) from my local folks: ~.01 AMU apiece.
