Hello,
I have a question for you guys because I just replaced my hose for air ducting (red).
The previous ones were scat (metallic wire visible inside) but I bought sceet (double layer) a replacement.
The sceet are less smooth and they are like a spring. Or maybe because they are new .
My question is that the hose that goes from the air intake to the battery is touching the exhaust pipe (even if I install a ty rap on this hose and the one that goes from the air intake to the alternator)
I didn’t check before if the old one were touching too. I can only tell that they are worn on this area.
But the spec says that the range of temperature is up to 550 F, the egt is around 1400 F, this is my worry now.
What do you recommend ?
Thank you.
Arnaud

Re: Hose ducting - heat resistance
You don't need SCEET for this application but it won't harm if you already have it.
You could wrap a piece of aluminum coated fiberglass cloth heat shield around the contact point on the SCEET and use safety wire to attach it in place.
And there has got to be a way to avoid direct contact. Look again Maybe you need a longer piece of SCEET?
PS: if your EGTs are really only 1400, I recommend you look at optimizing your leaning. What kind of power settings?

Hello,
No my EGT is higher, it was a typing mistake.
I installed firesleeve now around the hose because even with a longer piece it is the same problem.
