I use WX block — a two part polish and sealer that was recommended by glider friends with very expensive gliders. It works extremely well. My 2002 looks fantastic. Use it twice a year. Takes about 4 hours. Available at Wings and Wheels.

Thanks. Based on some tips I have just found on the internet for safely removing stickers from fiberglass surfaces, I think I'll try a regular hair dryer -- maybe less chance of overheating than a shop heat gun. The internet advice also recommends soaking the decal with WD40 or with Windex after heating, and then scraping with a plastic scraper (but the advice said try a soft rubbery kitchen spatula first). Rinse and repeat as necessary. I'll give it a try and report the results.

Does this polish remove any light oxidation in the coating?

I use WX Seal/Block on my sailplane. It is more of a wax/UV protectant. I do not believe that it will remove oxidation from the finish.

Here is the info from the place that sells it.

Not one of the decorative decals -- they still look ok -- but an old Connecticut state/town registration sticker. I've tried peeling and (very light) scraping but just can't get the bulk of it off. Is there any tool or chemical remover that won't harm my LP paint finish or the underlying surface?
Try any citrus degreaser. They are great at dissolving adhesives without damaging the surface.

Hello!

Just want to give you a feedback of the polishing job that I finally did last week-end.
It took me roughly 20 hours to do it, but the result is excellent!
There were a lot of "ghost" from the original striping that I have changed (they were here since 18 years), and now I cannot see them anymore, means that I got back the surface aspect of 18 years ago!
The color also turns back to real white.
The touch is not anymore like "mat", but really silky now.
The only thing is that I was too lazy to make the intrados

Exemple before/after:

I used pro polish for car, brand Menzerna (German), first with 1100 grain, then 3500. With the appropriate pads and machine.

See you.

Arnaud.
