O-Ring for Fuel Cap -- looking for part #

Post by waynemcc999 »

Hello,
I'm looking for the part # (and possible source) for replacement O-Rings for the Fuel Caps on my DA40 XLS (extended range tanks).
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne- Looking at the online Illustrated Parts Manual it appears that the O-ring for the fuel cap itself is DIN3771-85X2 NBR. There doesn't appear to be a different type of cap for 50 gal installations. See part 225 at

Or, you could just get the kit from Aircraft Spruce:

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... rhaul4.php

This has all the O-rings necessary...

Older post, but I noticed water in my left wing tank and gas collator this week after rains when I left my 40NG outside. It is normally hangared and I haven't had this problem before. I assume the Aero300 kit works for the NG. Are there any tricks to ordering and changing this myself?

While you may need new o-rings, another thing to check is the tightness of the fit of the cap when closed. There is a nut on the bottom of the cap that can be turned to tighten the fit when latched down.

Thanks Dan, I will try this first. The fuel caps do not feel tight at all. My flight instructor mentioned this felt looser than on their Diamonds.
