Emergency Battery Pack Location

I have a 2005 DA40-180 - I know it's behind the panel, but where? Is there an easy way to get to it?

You could download the shop manual for the DA-40.

Remove the glare shield covering the top of the panel, yours should be on the passenger side, on the bottom shelf behind the circuit breaker panel. Be careful, there are two different voltage battery packs that look almost the same, so be sure to check the part number before ordering a new one!

I have a 2002 DA40 and my emergency battery pack requires 28 Duracell batteries and I see where it is in the manual and I thought how convenient of a location at the bottom of the panel, thinking I didn't have to open the glare shield. But it looks like I have to unscrew from the inside to drop the tray. There is a lot of equipment in the way inside the panel and it looks like royal pain to get at.

Am I not seeing something or is this how you have to do it? If it is I think I will have my mechanic do it.

Todd - you are correct about the way to access the fastener (a single bolt). I remove the air vent duct to gain access. Doesn’t take too long once you have done it a time or two (or 11 in my case)…
