"taller" Landing gear
This is similar to the bent landing gear thread [viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6692] since it seems my gear has plenty of bow to them. However the 'fix' I am interested in is to install the taller landing gear via OSB-40-059.
Has anyone converted their DA40 to the taller gear using this OSB? Can you please share your experiences?
Like the mentioned thread, I have plenty of camber issues though there are two shims already installed and they were previously adjusted to help the toe-in and it would take quite a bit of shimming to fix the camber as well.
The tail-skid measures 18" from the floor. Q: What do other DA40's measure under the skid?
Home field (W52) is a sod field of 2500'. The negative camber means the wheel pant's can't be used as the brake cover often scrapes the ground. The tail-skid at only 18" means I can't flare or rotate agressively.
What are your thoughts?

Wow! That is really low. I just measured mine in the hangar - 26.5 inches.

Thanks Steve just what I was suspecting. Also Tech looked at my pics and said they seem to be bent and the upgrade should be done. That has made my decision easier. It's pricey upgrade/repair.

Love the new look on the NG, it seems to stand right now. All of the NGs now come with the Tundra gear they call it...

Re: "taller" Landing gear
The new taller landing gear is finally installed. Plane came back from the shop Thursday. There is a very noticeable difference! Where as my tail skid used to be 18" from the hangar floor it is now 25". That 7 additional inches is huge. The first thing I noticed was when loading the rear seat. I used to be able to stand on the ground and lean over and buckle the far seatbelt over luggage. Not any more. It is now very much out of reach.
On take off (I've only made one takeoff/landing so far) where as the nose wheel used to want to leave the runway as speed came up to about 45 kts it now wants to stay on the ground and takes a positive rotation to bring it up. So the wing angle of attack is lower when on all three wheels. Landing I was able to flare more than before and it was one of the shortest roll outs I've had.
I've not yet unwrapped the old gear, but the shop said it wasn't bent or anything as I had thought. This landing gear is for sale for a good price I've no need for it.

Toldja. It's just that they flex more readily. Doing the MTOW/MLW, the single biggest expense was the cost of these legs. So these should be attractive to someone.

Re: "taller" Landing gear
As a matter of curiosity, I measured the tail clearance on mine, which has the 18mm standard-length struts (and original wheels/tires), sitting empty in the hangar save roughly half-full fuel tanks. It's 25 inches. Two factors come to mind: The lighter weight and somewhat more forward CG of these older models.

Re: "taller" Landing gear
The nose landing gear elastomer pack has a significant impact on the tail clearance. I recently had mine replaced and the tail sits MUCH lower.

Re: "taller" Landing gear
This is true. FWIW my pack was replaced several years ago. It sits 5-6 degrees nose up in the condition measured.

Re: "taller" Landing gear
I have an older model 2002. I had the elastomer pack replaced about 300 hours ago.
My tail skid is 25.5 inches off the hangar floor.
What is your prop clearance? I have a new Hartzel composite prop which has a bigger radius.
With your 18 clearance your plane must sit in an attitude close to a taildragger.
