Possible Lost SD card lower MFD
Although I am still trying to locate the SD card from the lower slot of the MFD, which I pulled for update, I am trying to figure out what I need to do if I CAN'T find it. 1) If I insert a blank SD card in the lower MFD slot will the G1000 automatically update the aircraft file(s) on it, or 2) Can I copy the aircraft file from the lower PFD card to a new SD card and then update the databases that way?

Hi Don, I think this will be pretty simple. You take your new blank SD card, use the Garmin desktop app to download all the required DBs to the card and then insert the card in the MFD. In my experience the MFD has written whatever else it wants to the card during boot-up.

I found that my G1000 didn’t work with an SD card over 8 GIG in size. I did some research and it seems results very.

Oh, and if I recall correctly, I formatted the card to the appropriate file format (DOS I think) first.

If you have firmware 321.21 (I think that is) or later 8GB cards work. Both 4 & 8 are getting hard to purchase.

8 GB cards will work just fine in legacy G1000 DA40s running "newer" (2009-2013 era) software. If you haven't already, update your G1000 to 0321.22 for non-WAAS G1000s, 0321.23 for WAAS G1000 DA40s. The software is free, but you'll have to pay a Garmin dealer for an hour or two for installation labor.
Technically speaking, the bottom cards should be TSO'ed cards from Garmin; blank cards from Garmin can be purchased for about $200 each. However non-Garmin cards will work just fine. (Garmin cards are actually SanDisk). Just download all of the database files from fly.garmin.com (where you presumably have a G1000 database subscription) onto each new card.
