I need to develop a new skill
So - descending from 10,000 ft. to prepare for approach into Victoria, BC, I had the AP set for 500 FPM descent and was at a comfortable 110 knots when Victoria terminal requests I expedite my descent AND keep my speed up. (I'm in and out of the clouds at this point.) So rather than fiddle with the AP descent I hold the CWS button, push the nose down and attempt to confirm with Terminal I am complying and discover that never before have I simultaneously operated the CWS button and the PTT switch. Shouldn't be hard, right? Hah! It's like playing the oboe all these years and now have to play the trumpet. I fumbled for more time than I'd like to admit. But this is now something I will practice. No reason for it to be hard, the ergonomics aren't a problem. I just need to change my technique.
