Stuck in Moab making 0 amps

I flew out here thinking I was just getting breakfast :)

When I was ready to go, MFD shows zero amps being produced and gives a voltage warning.

I've been here with the mechanic for a few hours - battery is good, alternator no obvious issues - any ideas or has anyone had this issue before?

A couple years ago I had much the same symptoms (although in my case, inflight)... landed and local shop determined the Voltage Regulator had failed. Replaced the VR and all good since then.

Double check connections to alternator, especially F1, F2, and AUX ring connectors - they are fragile and can crack from vibration. If not these, it is likely the voltage regulator.

Good luck,

Steve

Same thing happened to me last year - flew to an airport in KY for the weekend, then 10 minutes into my flight home, not charging any more. It was the voltage regulator for me, too. If you have an SD card in the top slot of your MFD, you can pull it and upload your last couple of flights to the Reports section here and take a look the voltage graphs. They should be rock-solid at 28.6 volts in flight. In my case, my last 8 or 10 flight before my failure I could see the voltage bouncing around during cruise, which led us to the VR diagnosis fairly quickly. After replacement, back to solid 28.6v every flight. Check your data card!
