Hi Dominic,

Just some questions:
-Why did you change the VM1000?
-Can you tell me roughly how many hours they charged for this modification?
-Did you had to change all the probes also?
-Which GPS / COM / NAV have you installed?

Other question, I've seen other videos from your airplane on youtube (take off and landing), I noticed that the glareshield has been damaged on the upper side on right side, can you tell me what happenned because mine had the same (but before I bought it).

Thank you.

Arnaud

Hi Arnaud,

The videos on youtube with damaged glare shield are old. I purchased the aircraft in June simply removed the glare shield, patched it and repainted. I did the work myself because it was purely cosmetics.

- VM1000 had issues with oil sensors. It was old with slight screen imperfections. I could have been refurbished, but I didn't want to invest into the old unit.
- The install was very difficult and I still have issues with EDM930. I will check, but I want to say it was ~40 hours. The most challenging thing was the fuel senders. My old senders couldn't work with EDM930, so we ended up changing the fuel sender unit, which is ~$2000 each and you need to remove the wings...I don't even want to talk about it :). I worked with the maintenance shop that don't have too much experience with DA40.
- EDM930 comes with the new probes and they are really accurate.
- Garmin 530waas was replaced with Avidyne IFD550, PMA450B audio panel and AXP340 transponder.

Hello Dominic,

I did the upgrade from VM1000 to EDM930 and faced the same issue with the fuel probes. I have a lot of difficulty to accurately "tune" the fuel calibration points. The fuel qty seem to get stuck for a while at certain levels. Do you have the same problem?

Thanks
Normand
