AV-20s. I purchased one, just waiting on them to ship it. It has a flight timer, back up AI and AOA.
Also planning to purchase a AV-30 as soon as Uavionics resolves their gps connectivity so you can use the HSI in the device.

Appears Garmin is coming out with a AV-30 killer --https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/719027#overview This does AI, HSI, MFD and EIS. Could not determine basis of certification and whether it can be installed in the DA40. The site also mentions that it might be a backup EFIS as well.

Maybe. Price tag isn't in the same ball park. I'm not loving the CDI/GS display ergonomics, either.blsewardjr wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 3:31 pm Appears Garmin is coming out with a AV-30 killer --https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/719027#overview This does AI, HSI, MFD and EIS. Re: uAvionix AV-30 EFIS
It has a HUGE footprint behind the panel, compared to the AV-30! And half the backup battery life, for twice the price. Certainly a lot more functionality, though. But if you are only looking for a backup AI...

Re: uAvionix AV-30 EFIS
I did some more exploring to see what the GI 275 offers over the AV-30 for the 2001-03 DA40. In the AI version, additional features (at a price) include Synthetic Vision (free for the first 11 hours), flight path marker, and V speeds (but no AoA). It can transfer flight plans, but NOT to the GNS530W/430W (only the Garmin 175, 375 and 355). It can provide lateral GPSS-like guidance to the KAP140. However, it can also serve as an HSI or a primary engine instrument, thus replacing our BK55 or VM1000 (abit with a much smaller screen). In the MFD version, it can receive TX and WX from the GTX345 (but not the GDL88), as well as the GDL69. It can also display Stormscope information. Much to consider.

For the GI 275 it looks like rather than "also", there's a lot of "or" in this list. Notice that you select a different unit at different price points to perform different function sets.blsewardjr wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:11 pm I did some more exploring to see what the GI 275 offers over the AV-30 for the 2001-03 DA40.
