Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing
For me, the hardest part(after rolling the airplane to get the valve centered) is removing the valve cap and putting it back on. I guess my fingers are exactly the right size to make that task darn near impossible. Maybe I should try a valve extender from the auto section at Walmart?

I use a 10mm socket on an extension.CBeak wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 4:00 pm For me, the hardest part(after rolling the airplane to get the valve centered) is removing the valve cap and putting it back on. Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing
This is the fitting I use to set pressure for all three tires. The important part is the straight, rigid nozzle. Hold against the stem with one hand, operate the lever with the other. It fits (barely) though the original access hole.
Frankly, the biggest hassle I have is the tires are so close to the ground, requiring lying on a creeper and wallowing my way around the hangar

They really need to find a way to get those tires up off the ground where us old guys can reach them.Frankly, the biggest hassle I have is the tires are so close to the ground, requiring lying on a creeper and wallowing my way around the hangar

Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing
A 10 mm socket....that’s bloody brilliant. How did I not think of that?
I took the straight rigid nozzle one step further and got the inflator/pressure gauge with relief valve. Once you get the inflator on the valve you can tweak the pressure in one shot.

I use a 10 mm nut driver for the valve cap which I throw into my plane toolkit.

Re: Air in the tire without removing fairing
I use something similar to what Keith M uses but I have a small compressor. I fashioned the same kind of tool to pull the valve out a little. The tire pressure guage is exactly the same but at the end of my air fill compressor hose is a very small adaptor like this one http://www.leisurepro.com/p-aquti/aqua-tire-inflator.
Unfortunately the Diamond maintenance organization was never involved in design of either these fairings or the wheel/tube access.
