TAS 600 Weight and Arm

Post by mdieter »

I have a 2009 DA40 with a factory installed TAS 600 in the tail. When I look at the equipment pages in the manual, I can see the TAS 600, but no weight or arm is given for the unit or antennas, couplers, etc. If I ever changed any of this equipment I wouldn't know how to update the weight and balance. Does anyone have this info?

Thanks,
Mark

Not exactly an answer to your question but the weight of the LRU and antennas would be listed in the TAS600 specs. Easy enough to measure the location and subtract accordingly.

Mark, since your TAS was installed when the plane was built, the hardware in the tail is included in the base airframe weight and CG, which is why it isn't listed separately. If you were to remove it, you would weigh the pieces you removed, find their arm, and recalculate the airframe weight and CG.

Original equipment component wt/arm data may or may not be published. The POH lists many items of potentially/optionally installed equipment weight and moment arms. But omits the data for others, including the 600 components. And I've found at least one error in moment arms (KG102A).
