For those who are getting correct behavior out of the FS210, are you using Foreflight or one of the other EFB apps?

The shop and I fooled around with the FS210 installation today. First of all, this is how the device was originally installed behind the panel:

After checking the setup options and doing a "calibrate" in the device's menu within FF we dismounted the unit with everything powered up and rotated it around various axes and it all worked fine. So we buttoned it up and it was still weird in flight. So then we looked into the mounting. We determined that in the position shown in the attached picture the outboard (nearest) connector knurled knob was pressed against the instrument cover, pushing downward and inward on the connector and conceivably introducing some sort of stress on the innards. It would definitely cause transmission of some vibration on the connector shell and pins. So the mounting bracket was flipped over and the unit mounted upright within it. This moved it a couple of inches lower and got rid of this interference.

During takeoff and initial maneuvering in the pattern it still acted a bit weird, but settled down and seemed to work fine during the flight back to base. This included varying airspeeds due to another turbulent flying day.

Rich,

Could panel vibration be causing your issues?

I've pondered that possibility, but I would think it would behave more randomly. I've since been able to retest and characterize it as acting consistently as though the axis of the device were pointing considerably to the left, rather than forward. In a level turn, banking left, there is minimal bank shown, but it indicates a considerable nose down attitude. Banking right, it also shows minimal bank but a considerable nose up indication. Accelerating on the runway, it shows a modest bank to the left, with the aircraft acceleration passing for a left-wing-down attitude. This weirdness goes away at steady speed. In other words, pitch indicates primarily where the left wingtip is pointing and bank is more an indication of nose attitude/acceleration.

There is a replacement unit on order, expected in the coming week.

I am having a discussion with my avionics guy who says that he doesn’t think that it can be enabled due to the vertical mount. Neither of us is sure, but it seems others are getting this data.

I have good Bluetooth connectivity otherwise.

Any info, help or advice would be great. Thanks.
I think my ipad was able to connect to the G1000 via bluetooth connection and display location info. But my Garmin VIRB camera wasn't able to connect to it.
