g1000 attitude indicator replacement
anyone with a g1000 da40 replaced the backup attitude indicator with another kind either the gfc700 ones or something else newer?

Not sure what you mean by GFC700 ones?
A few have the RC Allen solid state units, but I think that was before the G5 which is now practically the same price and a lot more powerful.

well the 2007 and later ones have a different one than the earlier g1000 ones.

could the g5 be installed in the g1000 da40? I assume not since the size is significantly larger.

Not sure, it would definitely be tight.
Oh, well the only difference in the later models is they switched brands but you can hardly tell the two apart. I don’t see any reason to switch to the later model unless yours went out and it just happens to be cheaper.

I've seen Garmin's new GI-275 advertised, is this an option too? It looks like it would be a great option.

I think you'll find that Diamond is not on the AML for the GI-275. This is a Garmin "after market" product and Diamond's only get products that their OEM division wants us to have.

I don't think that the GI-275 has an AI option. As of 2019, the DA40 was not on the G5 AML. Plus, as JohnLand noted, it won't fit easily...
