I just received a response from Diamond that the checklist file is placed on an SD card and placed in the lower slot of the MFD, just like any other database.

No idea why the checklist wasn't installed at the factory.

The file from Diamond is checklist.gcl. Garmin Support wrote and said the file needs to be renamed:

"...What is the format of the checklist file (what is the file extension, is it .ace or .gcl)? If it is one of those file extensions, it would have to be renamed to "chklist.ace" and placed on the bottom slot or supplemental data card of the MFD."

I downloaded the .gcl file and installed it this afternoon. I just put it on an SD card and placed in the lower slot of the MFD. It installed and the error message went away. The only problem is the the file that downloads for the electronic checklist for DA40 NG G1000 NXi is for the DA42. I looked at it quickly, and noticed there were check boxes for de-icing and two engines, but when I got home I noticed I have the G1000 NXi checklist for DA42's. I tried downloading it again in case I chose the wrong file, but I got the same one.
I sent this in to Diamond, I'll let you know what they say.

It's interesting that the new Pilot's Guide for G1000 NXi Phase II manual that was just published for the DA62 says to load the checklist file by placing it on an SDcard inserted into the *TOP* MFD slot -- it even says it might be the same MFD top slot SDcard already being used for recording flight logs.

For Legacy G1000 the checklist file must be called "checklist.ace" and has to reside on the bottom MFD card. But for NXi, perhaps the top or bottom MFD card slot can be used? And NXi seems to require a .gcl (not .ace) file suffix.

You didn't need to rename it per the instructions from Garmin?

No, I just inserted it as is and loaded it, shut down then restarted.

I just verified that .gcl is the new checklist format required for G1000 NXi.

I finally got this fixed. I tried installing the DA40NG_Nxi.gcl file that now downloads from the Diamond checklist site but it would not install. Diamond sent me another file titled checklist.gcl (I think it is the same file but retitled). This installed through the bottom slot on the MFD and replaced the DA42 checklist.
