New Bling...

Post by Steve »

Just completed my Annual and flew the PMCF today. I wanted to show off a couple of items I did while the aircraft was down for the Annual:

I had replaced the COM1 antenna with a Comant COM/GPS antenna for the ADS-B install last year. I noticed that the COM2 (ventral) antenna was cracking around the attachment screws on the base, so I decided to replace that with a Comant antenna as well:

I also got rid of my old strobe/position lights and got a couple of pounds of useful load. The Whelen LEDs were an easy swap, and they are really bright.

The airplane also had it's annual wash/wax, so it looks really good now.

I like it - might do the same - I have a similar - but slightly different COMANT VHF/WAAS antenna on top from the ADS-B install.

May I ask (and sorry if I am breaking any rule here) the installed cost of the Antenna and the installed cost of the new Wing Tip Lights?

Thanks

Charles:

The wingtip lights were $1100 and the CI 211 was $800 from Aircraft Spruce (I get a Military Discount) + about $230 in various hardware items from Diamond:

My A&P/IA charges me only his time on inspections, I do all the disassembly/assembly/repair/replacement tasks with him popping in and out as necessary to check my work. My best estimate for the total cost for both items is about $2300.
