Re: Flap issue now!
Yes, but the LED brightness profile is such that the bulb brightness doesn't track the rest of the panel when dimming the panel.
I'd LOVE to replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs in my DA62's landing gear lights, to minimize the chance of a burned out bulb (and the pilot freaking out due to the lack of "3 green" gear down and locked bulb indications). Flap lights are less critical. But I can't use too-bright LED bulbs when flying at night.

You could use as bright as you like and put a lighting gel on the face of the light.I can't use too-bright LED bulbs when flying at night.

Re: Flap issue now!
Have had the flap micro switches fail a few times. All have now been replaced in 4ES. Bulbs do burnout or get jostled too.

Re: Flap issue now!
My flaps have started to fail intermittently. Sometimes they ignore the switch, either going up or down. I'll cycle it up and down a couple of times and it eventually works. I was going to just have the panel switch replaced but apparently that can't be done without a couple of service bulletins for a cost of around $3,000. I'll have my A&P clean the contacts if that's possible. Anybody have a similar problem in a DA40?

Gary:
Do you have any reference for those Service Bulletins? I'm not aware of any on the flap switch...
I do know that the flap switch assembly is an expensive part.

Re: Flap issue now!
Gary, the flap issues you're describing sound similar to what we saw when one of the flap control microswitches started to fail.
You might want to take a look at the flap control system trouble shooting section of the AMM (section 27-50-00 page 101). It give instructions for diagnosing flap issues related to failures in one of the 5 microswitches that control flap movement.

Re: Flap issue now!
Definitely an intermittent micro switch that needs replacing. Either that or the mech adjusted something incorrectly during maintenance.MarkA wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 11:57 pm Gary, the flap issues you're describing sound similar to what we saw when one of the flap control microswitches started to fail.

Re: Flap issue now!
Anyone know the approximate cost of the flap microswitches, and if any service center keeps them in stock? Also, if all 5 are the same part number, or are they unique parts?
