Major Engine Overhaul
My DA-40 is coming up for the 2200 major engine overhaul. I live in AZ. Looking for inputs on where I should get the service done. Thx.

Re: Major Engine Overhaul
There is a highly respected school of thought that says
If
The plane is flown regularly
Plane lives in a dry climate
No metal in oil filter
Oil analysis is good
Borescoping of cylinders show no abnormalities
Then you should not overhaul. Not required for part 91 operators. It is not clear that overhauling improves reliability either. Have a look at Mike Busch’s book Engines.
The only components that should IRANed every 500 hours are the magnetos.

Re: Major Engine Overhaul
I would suggest Dave Seastead at KFTW. The shop is Premiere.
My guess is that Peter is correct, you won't need an overhaul, but I felt much better after Dave had gone through my engine carefully. New eyes help a lot and I am not sure you can find someone with the depth of knowledge on a DA40 fleet. (I realize it's a flight to get down there. For comparison, I flew my DA42 SMO – FTW to have my annual done and then flew it back up to Norwood (OWD) after the annual. Worth it.)
