Jeremy - I liked the clear canopy so much that I realized that my response to your question of whether it would be worth having in Florida would be sadly biased. As such, I asked the person who spent the most time in the co-pilot seat whether she would return to a clear canopy in Florida. She laughed as if the question was not worth answering. Regardless she said, "NO for me, but maybe because he lives in Florida he might like the heat". So maybe pass on the possible option of a clear canopy and pursue the larger canopy.
Here is a photo of the canopy in flight

It might very well come unpainted, BTW. So if you like the idea of leaving it clear straight above, that should be easy.

As far as the painted sunshield above, mine has something different you might be able to source. Mine has a metal appliqué on the exterior which is perforated. It gives some shade, but allows the occupants to see through it as well:

It isn't a perfect compromise, but I like it better than a totally opaque shield...

I never knew you could get clear or metal applique. However, since I spent $$$ on the JetShades to reduce the temps/glare I think I'll stick with the full opaque, although the metal applique is tempting if I ever need replacement.

Not enough bird left for dinner.

Now I see what you mean about the clear. At this point I would be happy with whatever still getting a quote of 12 weeks. Thanks for sharing the thoughts and pictures.

BTW my bird was the sample plane for pictures of the Jetshades .
