Update: we added Prist to the fuel yesterday. Today when I drained the tanks & gascolator, there was a small amount of a translucent sludge in the right wing, maybe a tablespoon or so. I discarded that and then drained both tanks & the gascolator quite a bit & the fuel looked good. Flew the plane for about 30 minutes (over the airport :) ) and it performed flawlessly. The theory is that the Prist combined with a small amount of water in the right tank, which I drained out. I'll keep an eye on it & report back if anything else looks wonky.

Holt:

If your airplane spends time outside, you may want to check the fuel cap O-rings. More likely that water would enter via the fuel caps than the pumper truck or fuel farm. I replaced mine about 3 years ago just on principle. Easy and cheap.

The o-rings are practically brand new & in very good shape. The plane sat for weeks with only 10 gallons of fuel per side (it was supposed to have been topped off, but it in fact was not fueled). We had some unusually (for San Diego) humid weather during that time & I suspect it was condensation. After I get this load of fuel with the Prist burned through, I'll make darn sure it stays topped off.
