Amazing job. Bob Hoover was smiling down from above.

Da40 glide ratio is 8.8 :1. Arctangent(1/8.8) is 6.5 degrees which certainly more than std 3 degree glide slope. At 70 Best glide speed, this is 805 fpm.

I wonder if glide ratio for DA40 NG is the same as my old IO-360 powered bird?
Sold 2002. Powerflo, Hartzell composite two blade, 530W/430, 345 transponder.

DA40NG glide ratio is 9.7 and best glide is 88kts.

While it's only a 2019 model, the hours' accumulation in a flight school is much higher than private ownership. Appreciate your sharing what you learn.
I believe it was in the 300s, but can't be 100% sure. It was definitely in the 100s.

Has anyone heard update on this? Seems like something would be known re proximate cause 10+ days after. My LifeStyle source claims this was definitely not related to the issues on the turbo which arose on other NG's post inspection.

I spoke with John @ Lifestyle a few days ago, and he also told me nothing is known yet.... Hopeful we all find out something soon.

Hi - has anyone heard an update on this? I actually had the opportunity to fly with the instructor pilot in this incident. This was a few months ago, and they did not have any additional information.

Just talked to Diamond Canada about this today. The engine has been shipped to Austro Engine for further analysis to determine what happened. At this point there's no additional information.

Thanks Dave. I got a DA40 NG a month ago. Loving it thus far, but for obvious reasons am interested in tracking this issue. If you hear more please let us know. The pilot in this incident told me he went back up and flew that very same day. We recreated the flight when I flew with him. Obviously, he did a fantastic job. He said the engine just went out - no bad noises - it just stopped l. He tried all the obvious emergency items but no restart. He was wise not to let ATC vector him out too far. I think ATC may have assumed he was flying a multi.
