I'm having a similar leak on my Hartzell two bladed metal (non-powerflow) prop, but mine is leaking from the prop hub. Can anyone help with an exploded parts view, I'm curious what all the parts look like.

I posted the question under this heading: "Hartzell Two Bladed Metal Prop Parts Diagram"

Is the o-ring replacement part of the prop over-haul or an easy job of R&R of prop and replace the O-ring?
Just want to be sure and don't want to spend money on over-haul unless necessary.
Thanks

Could this be a easy fix?
Could this caused by mishandling of the prop plade, i.e. pulling on them to get the airplane move forward? I've seen it be done to other school planes constantly.
The O-ring is inside the prop hub, and the hub is bolted to the crankshaft with 6 large bolts (safety wired). Pulling on a blade isn't going to shift that at all. However, like any seal, it could develop a leak as the rubber compound ages and shrinks. It is easy to replace that O-ring, but the prop has to come off.

It does come with the prop, but I would think it would be simple to get a replacement. Check with MT-USA or a shop that does MT work. Since it fits a Lycoming crankshaft, it might not even be a MT-specific part.

You can buy the O-ring from MT in DeLand, FL. It is PN: C-048-B (Flange O-ring). They cost about $2.50 when I bought them (plus shipping).

So, Get the O-ring replaced first before proceed to next step of prop over-haul?

I wasn't suggesting that. What action you take depends on what is leaking and from what location. If it is oil, leaking from the O-ring, then replacing that would be reasonable, since it is easy and cheap. If it is oil from the front seal on the engine, the prop will have to come off, and a new front seal installed (plus a new O-ring on the prop). If it is grease from the blade seals, your prop should go to the prop shop for assessment and possible overhaul).
