Pitch Trim DA400 GFC700

Post by Leesommer »

I'm getting a pitch trim flag on my PFD... I called diamond and they said might be sticking switch on the stick.... cleaned with contact cleaner.. seemed to work for awhile now when flying it won't even move the trim wheel... but during preflight trim works fine..... any ideas.?

The elevator trim tab friction damper can get dirty and bind. Clean and adjust for proper friction value. That could be your problem...

I'll give that a try today... I would assume you just remove the trim to gain access to it, Correct?

Even before doing that just sit in the plane and runt the trim wheel full forward and back, seeing if it binds anywhere. Do this a couple of times - with the stick full forward and full back. I do this from time to time as part of pre-startup.

Steve, do you have to take that assembly apart to clean it, or is it pretty straight forward and easily accessible?

Steve:

It is best if you disassemble it, but it can be (mostly) cleaned in place. Adjusting the friction block requires disconnecting the metal rod clevis (#200) from the actuator link (#10, 11). Then you use a fish scale to set the friction by adjusting the split teflon block (#300) according to the AMM.

I just wipe it when I do. The friction block is nylon and I'm not confident I know what solvents would be safe to use.
