I've owned my DA40 for 4.5 years and put 800 hours on it. Total maintenance is about $53 per hour flown. Gas is about another $36 per hour. So I'm flying for about $89 per hour.
I estimate the value of my plane increased from 118K to 150K so that pays for the upgrades and more.
How does that compare to your experience?

Hangar: $3600 per year to VNY for ground rent, opportunity cost of purchase price about $6000 per year.

I've owned my 2003 DA40 for almost five years. My costs are comparable in total but spread over fewer hours. They include
Hanger - $4200/yr
Insurance - Currently $968/yr (up from low 800s)
Property Tax - $500/yr
Garmin Data - $299/yr
Foreflight - $200/yr
Maintenance for 4.75 years - $23,661 (Big tickets were refurb G530W($1687), rebuilt HSI ($2395), replace both mags ($2000), engine driven fuel pump($900), two cylinders ($4200), battery ($822), and tires ($955)) (Big ticket to come will be MSI)

Pitot/Static inspections - $360/bi-year
Yearly AD/FAR/airworthiness inspections - $492/yr (PowerFlow, fuel injectors, etc.)
