What is the limit of the DA40 "NG" take off altitude?
Those with this plane, what has been your experience with high density take-offs?
Thanks,
Scott

The AFM is a solid reference for the airplane's performance. See 5.3.7 and 5.3.8. Is there a specific situation you're evaluating?

Paul is right. The AFM has all the info you need. In practice, out of KDIJ this summer I've seen 9000' DA and with full fuel and a 2600 lb weight the NG has no problem meeting the book numbers. As a double check, I use the ForeFlight flight planning profile with a safety distance factor of 1.5. For example leaving Driggs today at 3 pm with full fuel and 400 lbs payload gives you a 4099' total distance to 50' with a safety factor of 1.5. Not a problem at Driggs with a 7300' runway but not sure I would try it at Rexburg with a 4200' runway.

Thanks was surprised to find a 2014 version of AFM online and found the information I sought. As someone considering a NG and desire to visit high density airports in So Cal (eg Big Bear, high desert, etc.) appreciate any experiences...

I'm in NorCal and have been in/out of KTRK (5,900'), KLMT (4,100'), KIGM (3,350'), P52 (3,560'), KMHV (2,880' but hot), KABQ (5,355'), and KSAF (6,350') with no TO issues.
I crossed the Sierra's three weeks ago at 16,000'.
The AFM is very accurate if you use the right weight table and temperature column. That said, you still have to deal with the updrafts and downdrafts in the deserts and mountains. I've seen my VSI swing from 1,200fpm to 0fpm.
