Making a call using the TEL button on the G1000 NXi

Post by deeohgee »

Hi all, curious if anyone has found how to connect your iPhone via Bluetooth and make a call using the TEL button. I can't find any documentation for it.

I thought that this button was for satellite phone integration, and not for Bluetooth?

looks like it's for sat phone only...

12 TEL – When selected, audio from the satellite telephone can be heard.

It’s satcom only for Phase I hardware. With the phase II upgrade it works nicely via Bluetooth.

I'm not familiar with the Phase II upgrade. Is that available now? How do you get that upgrade?

See this thread on DAN.

What year is your DA40NG? If it's 2019 or later and serial number 40.NC037 or greater, it probably has Phase II hardware and the GMA1360 Bluetooth audio panel instead of the legacy GMA1347.

If you don't have the Phase II hardware, I encourage you to get the Phase 1 to Phase 2 upgrade. Not only will you be freeing up a pair of GIA63Ws for a non-WAAS legacy G1000 owner, but you will also position your plane for the upcoming Phase III software update that is due out late this year or early next year. That update is expected to add many missing G1000 NXI features that other manufacturers already support.

If you do have Phase II hardware, you need to connect your phone's BT to the GMA1360 audio panel. You can then use the TEL button to make calls when its the LED indicator is blue. You'll have to pick between TEL and MUS1 being blue, depending on whether your want to make telephone calls or stream music.

Thank you for thinking of us legacy owners - I was grateful to get my pair of 63Ws from a DA62 that upgraded!!!
