Re: DA42 v Baron
You're right David, I don't like the DA42. Just not for me. It doesn't meet my mission. Maybe someone else like yourself, but, not for me. Have fun flying your 42. I will have fun flying my Aerostar.

Re: DA42 v Baron
Had a DA40. Put about 1,200 hrs on it. I absolutely loved the airplane. I currently have an Aerostar 600. I have about a 100 hrs. in a 42.

Re: DA42 v Baron
Look, I am not trying to say any airplane is better than another. What I am simply trying to say is, when evaluating any airplane, you have to look at the whole picture and how it will fulfill your mission or 90% of your mission.
When looking at performance, you have to look at the whole spectrum of performance and how it will fulfill your mission requirements or not fulfill them. Not just a narrow slice like performance at one specific altitude as in the example given in this thread unless of course you only plan on flying at one altitude for every flight. This cannot be this hard to understand.

Re: DA42 v Baron
I looked at TTx, SR22T, Malibu, DA62 and B58 in the last year......ended up ordering the DA62 (hopefully it gets here in June)......pricey, but I plan to have it a long time! AND it was the best fit for my mission!

Re: DA42 v Baron
There is no question, the 62 is one hell of an airplane. I would and actually have considered the 62, however, it just didn't fit my needs (or my wallet) as well as the Aerostar. I would never consider the 42. Again, for me it just didn't cut it in a lot of ways.

I also was not to happy with the way Diamond was treating its customer base at the time. Hopefully that has improved.
