Re: DA42 Cabin Heat
The cabin heat lever might be more effective than I first thought. It has enough resistance that if you operate it back and forth rapidly for several minutes, not only will you break a sweat, but your body heat may warm the cabin for your passengers...

Re: DA42 Cabin Heat
Maybe we should swap. The A/C works just fine. Wish there were an aftermarket heat unit to install to solve the problem.Steve wrote:My airplane was custom-made in Austria for TX climates - the heat works great all year round, even in August...

Well if we’re about making jokes, I have diving drysuit which easily can ensure one to be warm at sub-zero temperatures.
On the serious side, even C172 can provide sufficient heat to make occupants warm enough.

Sufficient heat or not, I fly with ski clothes in the winter, just in case I crash in a remote area and have to either wait for a rescue team to reach me or I need to walk in arctic air to reach help. Outside temperature on the ground is 21 degrees Celcius right now around Montreal.

I'm guessing you meant minus 21 degrees Celsius. Otherwise I'll be relocating to Montreal for the winter.Pascal wrote:Sufficient heat or not, I fly with ski clothes in the winter, just in case I crash in a remote area and have to either wait for a rescue team to reach me or I need to walk in arctic air to reach help. Re: DA42 Cabin Heat
At ISA temperature on ground (+15C) I don’t wear winter clothes while OAT at FL180 can be -20C which is a bit cold. E.g. few days ago I departed with 9C on ground and OAT at FL160 was -24C. So we’re not talking about arctic conditions on the ground but about pretty usual temperatures at levels where DA42 is supposed to fly all year round.
