This is all getting so technical, I have personally experienced Spontaneous Human Combustion in my Diamond while waiting in line to takeoff! :D

And I wondered why the air conditioning in our DA42 sometimes has to work hard to keep us cool. :D

Hi,

This just happened to me multiple time apparently. My initial explanation was that somehow maintenance did something by accident, until I witnessed the smoke coming from glare shield while the canopy was open. It wasn't that hot and the sun was behind the aircraft. The glare shield has a custom leather wrap, so initially I blamed the material manufacturer for not having high enough temperature rating, but now i found this thread... :cry:

Interesting. I’m just 45 minutes south in St George. N614DS has been spending all her time inside the hangar recently, with temps regularly above 110 F.
Really looking forward to cooler, calm Autumn air so I can do scenic flights and not have to start at 0 Dark thirty. Summer is brutal here but Fall flying rocks!
