DA42 Glare Shield

Post by scrufftheguff »

My glare shield is turning white from the sun. Anyone have a good fix for this that isn't spending $1500 on a new one?

You can repaint it with pressure pack flat black.

Indeed repainting is easy enough. 4 screws to remove. But if your plane is taking so much sun that it is discolouring the paint, you should consider at the very least a canopy cover. Keep in mind the horrendously expensive avionics and all of the "plumbing", seals etc... being baked otherwise.

Try planecovers.com . under $500.00 and a great fit.

It lives in the hangar now so the sun is no longer an issue. I had thought about flat black paint, just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same issue and found a good fix.
