I finally scheduled an appointment with diamond in Austria. They told me they are going to check the TKS system, once approved the plane will be FIKI certified. The price I got was 1400 euros.

Good reason for FIKI - from a recent "light rime" encounter! All the protected areas were ice free.

A little on prop spinners too but props were "clean"

How long were you in icing conditions? Did you find any change in performance while you were picking up the ice? No shots of the tail?

Tail was completely clean. Ice formed mostly on winglets during last 15 minutes of flight - FIKI was already on when it started forming. Engine cowlings were clean too - probably from TKS coming off of props. Nothing on inside portion of wings either.

Caught a lot of ice last night, when flying back home during night. According to clearance/procedure I had to dive into the ice clouds at 6.000ft and had to stay there for approx. 12nm. Had to switch De-Icing to „high“ to get rid of the ice on the wings. Aircraft handling felt normal. I was surprised about the amount of ice I caught. This is the only picture I took, but I remember the rest of the fuselage was clear of ice (I had to deice canopy front on final), but there was also a lot of ice on spinners, winglets, wing roots, engine nacelles around air inlets, doorsteps. I icing conditions I hear very often, odd noises out of the air inlets, sometimes even light ice spray coming out of the inlets into the cabin.
Just to be clear I am trying ro avoid icing conditions whenever I can!

Had some ice damage the paint at the fuselage. It went through the protection foil, but not much further. It happened even though I used deicing.

The same thing happened to me 2 years ago when descending through cumulus cloud on the right-hand side of the aircraft.

Hi Robert, I know that you are a super experienced DA42 pilot and most probably know this. Early switch on of de-icing avoids cumulation of ice blocks on the props that might hit the fuselage. Years ago I had the same damage, was quite expensive to repair.
