New owner of a DA42 (with 3 partners). This is the first aircraft I have owned, and I apologize for what is probably an obvous question.
I am trying to figure out the particular Zero Fuel Weight (Mass) of this aircraft. Latest POH has this to say:
Note: Maximum zero fuel masses:
-1650 kg (3638 lb)
-1674 kg (3690 lb) if OÄM 42-188 is carried out
-1730 kg (3814 lb) if OÄM 42-188 and OÄM 42-195 are carried out
How do I figure out what 42-188 and 42-195 are? (Google was no help) And if these have been applied to my aircraft? I believe they are to do with the landing gear.
Zero Fuel Weight of 3638 or even 3690 gives you less (non-fuel) payload than a DA40!
FYI if it helps, this aircraft is a 2006 model. Also max TO weight on the last weight and balance (2012) is listed at 3935 lbs.

Re: Zero Fuel Mass (Weight)
You would have to look at the POH that comes with your particular aircraft. That will have the exact empty weight of your aircraft (and should also have any additional equipment listed in the Mass and Balance section).

Re: Zero Fuel Mass (Weight)
Yes, there may be less zero fuel payload available, but there is a lot more flexibility of what to use to eat up that payload. I didn't even notice how close mine was to the DA40 I traded for it, I just noted that I could have 75 gallons of fuel, which was waaaaay more than I would ever fly with, so I had a lot of flexibility. (When I am alone in the plane you can imagine how much fuel I am carrying.)

Re: Zero Fuel Mass (Weight)
Per http://support.diamond-air.at/fileadmin ... -06-28.pdf OÄM-42-188 is "Increase of Maximum Zero Fuel Mass" and OÄM-42-195 is "Maximum Landing Mass 1785 kg". Specifics have been incorporated into the respective Diamond manuals.
Your Aircraft Maintenance Log Book will have a complete listing of all OÄMs that have been carried out.
These both came out in 2010, so it is unlikely that either have been carried out.
