The upgrades are expensive but the airplanes are the best.

Im hope the cost is much lower compared to initial upgrade since you don’t have to redo the mounts, etc...

Quickly learning these airplane have some pretty expensive upgrades.
Replacing CD-135 (any CD-135, or Thielert 1.7/2.0) with CD-135 is approximately $85k.

Replacing CD-155 with CD-155 is approximately $100k.

WAAS is not a mere challenge, it's impossible. Garmin has pulled them from the shelves because they want you to upgrade to NXi instead.

The 1.7 to 2.0 conversion depends greatly on the current exchange rate, could be around $125k right now. The 2.0S conversion is would be at least another 40k. It generally pays off to buy a 1.7 and the pay for the 2.0 upgrade, but again, the airframe options are more or less limited to whatever it comes with, so if you want WAAS or the GFC700, you're looking at a 2.0 already.

The GIA63W used 2004-era GIA63 technology that had become obsolete, based on electronic components that were getting more difficult to source from parts suppliers. So Garmin stopped producing the GIA63W and replaced it with the newer GIA64W module in 2018.

It's perfectly normal for electronics technology to change dramatically after 14 years.
