CD 135 with clutch replacement options
Apologize in advance, if this is a repeat topic, but I couldn't find anything applicable to USA.
I have a DA42 with the CD135 (with clutch not flywheel) engines. I am looking at hitting the TBR late next year, and I am trying to wander my way around replacement options.
It seems like I can now replace this with CD155's, but I can't find if the STC was ever issued.
If true can anyone throw out an approximate cost in the US.
Are there any other sensible replacement options that I should consider?
Seems like a minefield of options! I even see something about upgrading the whole plane so that it becomes a DA-IV? Really?
Any other advice as I begin talking to shops. BTW I am an easy flight to London Ontario, is taking the plane to Diamond a good option?

Upgrading to -VI will cost you probably $500k+. Upgrading to CD-155 engines should be in range of $150k while just replacing the engines with new CD-135 should be around $100k.
For CD-155 STC you can contact John Crosby.

Try calling Glenn Lawler at South Tech 334 728 6806. He is in N.C. at KRUQ. He has a great shop.

Re: CD 135 with clutch replacement options
The estimate to replace current engines with New CD-135 or CD-155 engines is about:
CD-135: $137,000 - This includes $20,000 core charge (gets refunded when old engines returned) and labor.
CD-155: $231,000 - This includes $20,000 core charge (gets refunded when old engines returned), New Scimitar Props and labor. If you do not want the Scimitar Props and use your current props, deduct about $19,000 from the estimate.

Re: CD 135 with clutch replacement options
Emir, When did you have your engines done? It is more than I paid when I had mine done in 2015. I was told the prices for the engines have been going up almost every year.
The current engines prices alone are about $47k for CD-135 and 74K for CD-155 from Continental.

Re: CD 135 with clutch replacement options
To Patrick's question, does anyone have experience running past TBR/TBO on the diesel engined Diamonds? I'm curious what's monitored for engine health.
Just for info, Crosby's STC for a 1.7 to 2.0S conversion was 144k Euros including a 16k euro deposit (both engines). This doesn't include any changes to the prop. That works out to $176k USD or $156k USD with core returns back. Digging around my notes, I can't find anything on this installation or not.
This was last year, and engine prices are likely to have increased 3% this year.
