Mysterious oil pressure fluxuations at 70-80% power
Have been dealing with an issue where the oil pressure is fluctuating on my new’ish DA-62 but only when in the 70-80% power range. Issue is more severe on the right engine but both are suffering it. Below 70ish and above 80ish no issues.
Swapped out the pressure sensor today and it didn't solve it - same issues on return flight. Anyone seen this before or any theories? Engine graph attached showing oil pressure overlaid with load - you can see it jumping around when on the 70s, with fluxuations noted of 1-1.5 full bar.

Of course the guages are in psi but it looks like you have max 800hpa variation = 11 psi.
Mine also vary slightly, more like wobble I would say, which seems to match your other power settings in the picture. Both engines do it and always have done. I usually cruise at 80%.

Mine are constantly dancing around in the green range. Very odd but when talking to my DSC about it, the mechanic noted this is normal for the DA62 and due to overly reactive sensors.

I don't think this is an issue. These variations are only about .7bar. What were the oil levels? As Fred says, they continually dance and if you're in the green, I don't think there is an issue. They are routinely in the yellow when idling while taxiing, especially when hot after the flight.

Re: Mysterious oil pressure fluxuations at 70-80% power
I agree some fluctuation is normal. At every other power setting it varies .1-.3 bar. When in the 70-80 power range it is jumping all over with fluctuations up to 1.2-1.4 of variation. Curious if other 62 owners see this and maybe it is something in the design that at that power range it is unable to keep stable for some reason.

The nice thing of a twin is that you can compare one engine with the other one. If they’re both doing the same, it’s probably normal.
My oil pressure indicators are dancing the entire flight. It’s quite irritating, because it’s a very basic thing to solve in software.

John, can you add the oil temperature to the plot and slightly expand the x (time scale)?

Yes I’ll build a new chart with that when back from travel and by my Austro laptop

Here are a few pics of the issues that arise when at 7[x]% load vs. the others (data samples pulled from different flights in last month or two) , with a couple of different zoom-out amounts for x-axis and adding in oil temp
